Mediation

Alternative Dispute Resolution

At  Next Legal, our legal professionals understand that mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution are preferable to contested hearings and trial in the trial court. A skilled mediator, private judge or other neutral can assist the parties in fully understanding their issues and in reaching the compromises necessary to avoid conflicts. Our attorneys have extensive experience in mediation, arbitration, collaborative law and other forms of binding and non-binding dispute resolution.

Making the Settlement Process Work

Although it is important to begin settlement negotiations at the beginning of a divorce or legal separation, it is equally important to do so with the benefit of careful preparation and thorough planning. Negotiations require a complete understanding of the legal, financial and personal issues involved in the case. If settlement negotiations or alternative dispute resolution is initiated without the necessary level of preparation, one or both sides of the case may become unnecessarily locked into their positions. It is therefore essential to quickly and efficiently master the often unique and specific issues in the case before early settlement negotiations can be commenced.

Mediation Experience Counts

Our attorneys have successfully handled hundreds of mediations, arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. We recognize that having decades of experience in mediation and ADR presents strong advantages in achieving favorable settlements without litigation. It has been our experience that having an attorney and legal team with the experience and skills to win in court creates the leverage and bargaining power to achieve early settlements.
